Hello hello
I found the link to this forum on the SWGemu forum where "whistletock" posted several information in the profession-dedicated section of the forum.
The amount of guides, tips & tricks about the Ranger profession here is just amazing! Congratulations for having made such a place for all aspiring and master Rangers.
I used to play SWG between March 2004 and November 2005 on Kauri. I've been mainly a fighter there most of the time but I remember having been attracted by some other kinds of profession, more of a support role, in the early days. Squad Leader and Ranger were two professions that I tried, but never mastered; and there is an utter taste of unachievement that ought to be corrected on the SWGemu .
I have literally enjoyed these two professions. And surprisingly it is more pleasant to remember episodes that happened when I was a Ranger or a SL than those endless hours of solo-grinding for whatever combat profession in this endless and pointless juvenile quest of "I want to be the best on the server!".
All in all, Ranger is a profession that I definitely want to get back into at the SWGemu release. I see it as something rare, professional and elitist: because no-one can hunt, harvest, run in the wild, hide like a ranger; he is truely the king of the outer-city world. As my thing was truely to explore the world and go where no-one ever went before, I feel Ranger as a tailored-profession for me.
Anyway, that's for my little story .
I'm glad to have found this Ranger community and look forward to exchanging experiences, ideas, projects with all of you .
Rangers FTW! |

Glad to have you stop by, Nick. Sorry it took so long for me to respond - life has been a bit hectic. I agree with your take on rangers and am happy to say that the Emu so far has captured the flavor of our beloved profession.
As for the other rangers - they stop in every so often as you know us rangers roam a bit. Some are playing the emu now. If you make a character on the Emu - feel free to post the name and we can run into you in game as well.
Feel free to add anything to our little archive site! _________________

Hi kefkah!
Thanks for your message.
It looks like the members of this forum aren't particularly active; is it just an impression or you are the true only Ranger survivor out there? |

You will note the number of views. They are mainly lurking but yeah, it gets quiet here. YT, Bilos and Deadtech stop in and post. Owen has become a full time resident over at rlmmo.com.
Pretty much the site is like a library where people come in, lurk and go on with their days. If you want some lively conversation - check out our sister site - mmofringe.com. _________________

All righty .
Yeah the amount of information available on this website is just amazing! Combined it could easily form up the Ranger's Bible.
Are you currently playing on SWGemu TestCentre NOVA?
On what server do you plan to play? |

Hi there. As Kef said I do randomly post time to time. Welcome to our campfire away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
I hit up TC every now and then but mostly have been waiting for the object restructure to happen. I'll be playing on the swgemu server when it goes live for sure. Until then I make LotRO my home. |

I havent' played on the TC for a while. Love playing ranger, just wasn't up for the whole rebuild after wipe thing. I intend to play on True Galaxies server once they start one. It's a nice community and a decent sized one. I am sure Suncrusher will have the heaviest population but I opted for Eclipse when I joined if that tells you something. _________________

to deadtech: "[a] campfire away from the hustle and bustle of the city.": that describes this place perfectly .
to kefkah: No I never heard anything about Eclipse; what was so special about it?
TrueGalaxies? hmm ... how big is the community there?
I really doubt that any server other than Sun Crusher will stand the test of time -that's just my opinion-, just because Sun Crusher wil be operated by those who devoted themselves to coding SWGemu, and because it will remain the main server for SWGemu for a while. A poll I launched on the SWGemu Forum showed that out of 369 votes, 78% would go on Sun Crusher -which is quite significant-.
Aren't you afraid that True Galaxies will disappear by lack of players as people realize they could join a much larger and "apparently" steadier community on Sun Crusher? |

Eclipse was one of the smaller official servers of SWG.
I agree with you that SWGEmu's server will be THE place to reexperience a truly living community. I just like smaller populations and True Galaxies is one of the few that have been consistent in their efforts. Other sites have whithered and died - this one seems to have enough support to keep it running as an alternative to the big Suncrusher bohemoth. _________________
